Workshop Report on Stress Management and Happy Classroom

The workshop on Happy Classroom and stress management was conducted for the teachers of Milagres Central School, Mangalore on 23rd May 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. in the Milagres Degree College Auditorium. The workshop started with a prayer song sung by the Teachers.
The Principal Rev.Fr Joseph Uday Fernandes introduced and welcomed the resource, Persons. The resource persons for the day were Rev.Fr Victor D’souza and Rev.Fr Arun Lobo counsellor at Shanthi Kiran Counsellig Centre, Bajjodi, Mangalore. Words of gratitude was  expressed by Ms.Deeny Dsouza for the inauguration ceremony.
The first session was conducted by Rev.Fr Victor D’souza who stated that Happy teachers create Happy Classroom. In this session more focus was given on creating a happy and supportive classroom environment. The workshop began with an Action song. He explained the classroom management methods and strategies which will help teachers. Group discussions were conducted about the challenges which we come across in today’s classroom and how we can manage these challenges in a classroom.  Discussed the techniques of effective classroom management like planning, preparation and presentation.
In the second session, Rev. Fr Arun Lobo spoke on the topic of stress management for students and educators, understanding child and adolescent behaviour.  Discussed the Strategies like mindfulness exercises, time management techniques, and promoting a healthy work-life balance. 
Participants engaged in group discussions to share personal experiences and best practices for managing stress in educational settings. Discussed the factors which affect children like physical, biological, environment, childhood and past experience, values and self.  
The workshop provided valuable insights and practical strategies for addressing stress, promoting well-being, in educational settings. Participants left with a deeper understanding of these critical areas and a renewed commitment to creating supportive and innovative learning environments.
The session was concluded with teachers participating in the action song and also answering questionnaire. The programme was compered by Sr.Dorethi  Dabre, and the words of gratitude were expressed by Ms.Janeshwari. The programme was taken by The Principal Rev. Fr Joseph Uday Fernandes who organized this workshop for the well-being of the teachers and students.
