Report of the club activities conducted in the academic year 2022-23

Extra curricular activities gives the opportunity to nurture, utilize and improve the talents in various fields other than academics. Co-curricular activity is also an effective platform to inculcate social, aesthetic, cultural, recreational and disciplinary values among students. It helps in holistic development of the personality.

Divya Chethana Club

Divya Chethana Club aims at inculcating spiritual and social values. This club comprises of 30 members. Students actively involved themselves in activities such as Choir singing, scripture reading, enacting value based skits etc. The members have taken part in conducting church services on 1st Friday of every month. They have taken active role in the liturgy and confession, Novena during the feast of "Nativity of our Lady", Way of the cross during Lenten season etc. The teacher in charge was Mrs. Lynette Pinto.

Science Club

Science club aims to create scientific attitude and promote creative thinking among the students. 34 members were enrolled in this club from std. V-VII. The teacher in charge was Mrs. Veronica D'Souza.

» On 16th July 2016, members of science club had organized a Vanamahotsava Programme.

» On 18 th November 2016, Exhibition cum Competition on Nutrition was organized and gave presentation on basic nutrients of food, balanced diet, food chain and role of physical exercise in maintaining health.

» Science models prepared by the students were exhibited with the presentation.


A written quiz on nutrition was conducted for the students of std. V-VII and highest scorer in each class was awarded.


The School Cabinet

The cabinet helps the students to inculcate leadership qualities. The cabinet election was held on 08-06-2016. Eight candidates from std. VII contested. Master Sahil of std. VII A was elected as the SPL and Mohammed Razeen of std. VII B as DSPL. The members conducted surprise checks on the uniform, cleanliness and discipline. It functioned effectively throughout the year. The teacher in charge was Mrs. Maria Priya Crasta.

Literary Club

The literary club aims at stimulating the inner potentialities of the students such as creative writing and analytical thinking through various activities like debates, quiz, presentation of stories and poems etc. To nurture their young and talented minds they were very often taken to a library to enhance their reading skills.

Ultimately this club was a learning experience. The club comprises of 23 members.The teacher in charge was Mrs. Veera Sonia D'Mello.

Eco club

The Eco club aims at creating an awareness and the need of preserving and conserving our environment. The club comprises of 40 students. They were trained on the disposal of waste through proper channels and they also have cleaned the school ground. It helps to develop love for nature and to keep the surroundings clean.

Vanamahotsava was celebrated on 16th July 2016 by planting the saplings and also a play was enacted with slogans to show the importance of the Day. Our Campus Administrator Rev. Fr. Michael SanthuMayor spoke on afforestation and its need for conserving the plants.

The teacher in charge was Mrs. Sharal Diana D'Cunha.

Drawing Club

Art education is essential for the child's emotional growth and mental development. It aims at bringing out the hidden artistic skills of students and provides a firm foundation to bring out creativity and originality of a child. This club comprises of 36 members who met once a week. The teacher in charge was Mr. Ivan Crasta

» The Club conducted a drawing competition on 02-07-2016 for juniors (I-IV) and on 15-07-2016 seniors (V-VII).

» The Club conducted "Wealth out of waste" competition for the students of Std V-VII.

» An Art, Craft and Antiques Exhibition was organised on 18-11-2016 in the School Hall

» Extra Art training is given to students after class to develop their skills in art.

Music Club

Music is the art of combining sounds of varying pitch to produce a coherent composition that is melodious, harmonious, intelligible, and expressive of ideas and emotions. The aim of this club is to develop the talents of the students in the field of music. This club comprises of 14 members who met twice a week.

The club members were trained to play the basic notes of the instruments like Guitar, Violin and Keyboard under the guidance of Mr. Simon Pais who is a professional musician, pioneer and founder of renowned music academy swaranjali. The teacher in charge was Mrs. Jane D'Souza.

» A semester theory test being conducted in the month of September.

» A commendable debut performance given on the Annual Day celebrations 2016.

Karate club

Karate club aims to provide adequate training to master the basics of martial arts and helps to develop a holistic personality with the spirit of braveryamong the students. The club comprises of 25 students who met twice a week. They have participated in inter School Karate tournaments organized by the Institute of Karate and allied arts.

The members were graded with yellow, orange, green, and blue belts .The club functioned effectively under the guidance of a qualified instructor Mr. Balakrishna Alva. The teacher in charge was Mrs. Veena D'Souza.

Dance Club

Dance is an essential part of our life. It plays vital role in the lives of the children. It helps to build strength and nourishes the mind. Under the efficient guidance of Mr. Prashanth D'Souza, the students were given special training in Eastern and Western free style dance forms. The teachers in charge were Mrs. Hilda Saldanha and Mrs Suprabha Nayak. Dance club enrolled all the students of primary section.

» A dance on National Integration was performed by students of Std. VII on the Independence Day.

» On 22nd August 2016 , 12 students participated in the inter school dance competition "Champion of Champion -2016" held at St. Sebastian School, Permannur.

Cubs, Scouts and Guides

This club helps the students to actively involve themselves in the school discipline programmes. The members were trained on Cub, Scout and Guide motto, the laws and rules of the movement, Knots and their uses, History of Scouting and also on the life of Baden Powell who was the founder of the club .They have learnt to inculcate values such as respecting others, being prayerful and exercising regularly.

The teachers in charge were Mr. Ivan Pinto, Mrs. Precy Mascarenhas and Mrs. Janet Pais. There were 24 Cubs, 32 Scouts and 20 guides who met every week.

» Activities like craft, memory test, and patriotic singing competitions were conducted.

» Tests were conducted and members were awarded with Pravesh Badges.

» Actively participated in the National festivals.

School band

The Milagres School Band was trained under the able instructor Mr. Vijay Olivera who has taken keen interest in teaching drums, flute, bugle and trumpet .Playing in the band teaches youngsters discipline and it improves their co-ordination and builds self confidence which helps them reach their goal. The club comprises of 56 members who met once a week. The teacher in charge was Mr. Ivan Crasta.

» Welcomed the students on Prarambotsava Day.

» Welcomed and honoured the Chief Guest on Cluster Level Sports Meet 2016 held on 07-11-2016 in Mangala Stadium.

» Welcomed and honoured the Chief Guest on all three days of the Annual Sports Day meet from 23-11-2016.

» Welcomed and honoured the chief guest on Annual Day Celebration of Primary, High school and P. U. Section on 6th, 7th and 8th December 2016.

» The School Mass P.T. Exercises were accompanied by the band students.

Konkani Club

Konkani club aims at instilling interest towards the mother tongue and appreciation to Konkani culture and literature. It strives hard to strengthen the language customs and traditions. The club comprises of 35 students. The teacher in charge was Mrs. Nelly D'Souza.

» The students took part in Konkani story telling competition.

» In the month of July, Konkani club members along with teachers visited Kalangan, Shaktinagar, Mangalore.

» Karnataka Konkani Sahithya Academy had conducted a programme "Konkani Manyatha Divas - 2016"; Konkani club students had participated and were awarded.

Sports Club

Sports club inculcates the value of discipline, perseverance and team spirit.They actively took part in various outdoor and indoor games like Football, Cricket, Chess etc.

The Sports Club of Milagres Primary School with a strength of 50 students as club members functioned well under the guidance of physical instructors Mr.Ivan Pinto and Mrs. Precy Mascarenhas.

Participation and Achievements in various Sports and Games events:

» Independence Cup Football Match was conducted by D.K. Football Association held at Nehru Maidan.

» Winners in Taluk level Football match organised by Morning Star, St. Josephs School ground, Bajpe.

» Participated in District level Football Tournament hosted by St. Joseph‟s School, Bajpe and secured prizes at Taluk level.

» Tanishq Tarun of Std. VII A won the first place in hurdles and was selected for District level.
